Rechargeable Battery  / Cell Phone Recycling Comes to Dingman Township

Residents looking for an environmentally friendly way to dispose of their used cell phones and rechargeable batteries can look no longer.  Dingman Township is pleased to announce that the municipal building is an official drop-off point for both items.

Cell Phones - Cell phones may be dropped off at the Dingman Township Municipal Building weekdays between 9 AM and 3 PM.  The cell phones need not be operational.  Batteries may be left in the phone.  Residents are advised to remove the SIM card to ensure identity security.  The cell phones will be tested.  Operational cell phones will be refurbished then donated to appropriate charities.  Non-operational cell phones will be recycled.  Cell phones may also be dropped off at Spring and Fall Clean-up Days.

Batteries - Appropriate batteries may also be dropped off a the Dingman Township Municipal Building weekdays between 9 AM and 3 PM and during Spring and Fall Clean-up Days. Only rechargeable batteries like those found in cameras, cell phones, and lap top computers may be accepted at this time.  Dry cell (zinc/carbon), alkaline, and non-rechargeable lithium batteries can not be accepted.  The collected batteries will then be shipped to various sites around the country for the proper recycling of the heavy metals they contain.     Note: wet cell batteries like those found in cars, motorcycles, ATVs etc. may be recycled at Spring and Fall Clean-up Days.

This recycling program is financed by the manufacturers of rechargeable batteries and is provided at no expense to the Dingman Township taxpayers.
