COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

Dingman Township Is Updating Its Comprehensive Plan.

hat Is a Comprehensive Plan?

Think of a comprehensive plan as our community’s game plan for the future. It’s more than just a document. The comprehensive plan is a vision, strategy, and a shared roadmap for how we grow and thrive together over the next 10 years. Like a puzzle, it helps fit all the pieces together—homes, roads, businesses, and the environment—so they work in harmony. Comprehensive plans include recommendations and guidelines about almost every aspect of a municipality.

  • They compile data that tells the story of a community's current conditions and assets. In other words: What is the state of Dingman Township today?
  • They organize residents and foster conversations about ideas, opportunities, and hopes for the future of the community.
  • They establish action steps to guide how municipal resources, funds, and other efforts are allocated to achieve the community's goals.

The process of updating our comprehensive plan began in the summer of 2025 and will wrap up with the plan’s adoption in late 2026. This update will replace the Township’s current comprehensive plan which was adopted in 1999.

What is the Planning Process?

The Dingman Township Comprehensive Plan process has four phases:

  • Understand: This phase gathers insights and builds an understanding of the current conditions, challenges, and opportunities. (Fall 2025)
  • Imagine: Here, the focus shifts to visioning and ideation. We explore future possibilities and articulate a shared vision. (Spring 2026)
  • Strategize: This phase translates vision into actionable strategies. (Summer 2026)
  • Adopt/Implement: The final phase is about formalizing and executing the plan. (Fall 2026)
