NOTICE #4   12/08/08     NOTICE TO SEWAGE DESIGNERS

MEMO:

To:                   All Sewage System Designers working in Dingman Township

From:              Chris Wood, Sewage Enforcement Officer

Date:               December 8, 2008

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of some changes that will be taking place in the near future.

New Fees

Dingman Township is reviewing the sewage permit fee schedule and it is anticipated that there will be changes. I can not say when the new fees will take effect. However, I would recommend that if you are holding checks from clients that you submit them soon.

Old Records Procedures

Starting January 1, 2009, the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law takes affect (as it applies to municipalities). This will have an effect on the way Dingman Township provides copies of records. You will no longer be able to just walk into the office and get a copy of a permit, expired permit, or test result. All requests to see or obtain copies of sewage records will need to be made in writing on a Township provided form. The results of the request will not be provided immediately (expect to see it in about a week) and there will be mandatory (although nominal) fee required.

Chapter 72a and 73a

For what its worth… recently, in the monthly briefing to the Pennsylvania Chamber of Industry and Commerce, a DEP spokesman was asked about the status of Chapters 72a and 73a. The spokesman stated that they have been re-written and are undergoing internal review. He said that they are looking for implementation in 2012.

Have a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.
